So this week was a total blur. I honestly have no clue what happened. We taught lots of lessons and drove around a lot, I know that for sure.
Well yesterday was Sister Jenks’s birthday and anyone who knows me knows how much I love celebrating other people's birthdays, so of course I had to make it a great day for her! So I enlisted the help of the family we live with to grab some decorations so that I could decorate the basement for her. On Saturday night I woke up at midnight and decked the place out! She woke up Sunday morning totally surprised and it was awesome! We ate with the Micheli’s and they made her favorite dinner and then have cake and ice cream and presents for her. Y'all the people in this ward are so amazing. They make sure we feel so loved and special!
So because we drive so much, we have very interesting conversations. Saturday's revolved around my nickname and the name of my car. So everyone back home knows the back story to The Shadow Dancer and her Shadow Carriage. If you don't, I am sorry, I don't have time for the fun story. But anyways, Sister Jenks wanted a name too, so we tried to come up with one for her. We created a story and all sorts of things. She really wanted to be like Angelina Jolie from "Salt". My creative juices were not flowing on Saturday and I was struggling to come up with a good name for her. When Sister J said she liked Salt, I asked her if she had a favorite seasoning. She looked at me like a total idiot, and looking back now, I can totally see why she would. So she started listed off random spices "I don't know! Alum like an old man, or maybe even saffron!" Well saffron stuck in my head and do you know what name popped in my head? Well if you read the title you should already know. The Saffron Ninja! How awesome is that?!? I thought it was awesome and honestly I was just proud of myself for coming up with something haha. Did Sister J like it? Not really. But it's growing on her now, so ha!
I don't have a ton of time today, but I would like to share a thought really quick. In Alma 43 in the Book of Mormon, we read about Captain Moroni who was in his 20's when he was asked to lead the Nephite army. He prepared them and taught them. They were well armored and prepared with weapons to go into battle. When it came time to fight, their enemies were too afraid because they knew they couldn't harm them because they were protected. My question is this, are you doing the things you need to be doing to be protected from the adversary? Reading your scriptures, attending church and really learning, serving others around you, praying? These simple things are the best defense we have against the adversary. We need not be on the offense if we are doing the things we should be.
I love you all sooooooo much! Thank you all for the constant love and support! You're in my prayers and I hope you have an awesome week!
