Monday night, August 31, Megan was set apart as a full time missionary by our Stake President. It was a wonderful, spirit filled night. Afterward we came home and took some pictures with our "new missionary".
Tuesday an early morning with a 6:00am departure. There were lots of tears as we sent her on her way.
The first leg of her flight took her to Atlanta. Once there, she realized that she would be flying into Salt Lake with a bunch of missionaries who were going home. On that flight, she ended up sitting next to one of the returning sister missionaries. She was able to spend a lot of time talking and getting advice from that sister. They then got into a discussion with a flight attendant who is a preacher at a church. They were able to talk religion and compare their beliefs. She said at the end of the discussion the flight attendant was very touched, and had tears in her eyes. Megan was excited to have had her first missionary experience. She was quickly deflated though as she walked down to baggage claim with all those returned missionaries, and watched as they reunited with their families.
That night was spent at Grammy and Grampy's house having a family dinner and saying goodbye to some aunt, uncles, and cousins..
