This week just flew by! I had to ask Sister Ligon what happened this week because I seriously don't remember!
So on Wednesday we went down to Cheyenne for interviews with President and Zone meeting. It was so great! I had an awesome interview with President Brown. It was actually my last interview with him which makes me so sad! He is finishing up his mission next transfer and I don't want him to leave! I am so excited to meet our new president though. I know President McMurray is going to be awesome!
At zone meeting the most exciting thing ever happened.... WE GOT PAMPHLETS FOR LESSON 5! This is a super big deal because lesson 5 is kind of tricky to teach because there is just so much we cover!! These pamphlets really help us to know what to focus on and explain things so much better than I can! Sister Ligon and I have been freaking out about them haha! Only missionaries would get excited about this sort of thing...
We had to move Kansas' date back to June 4th because she has got some pretty tricky stuff going on in her life right now. She needs just a little more time to prepare and get to a good spot. Howard is still doing so awesome!! He is still good to be baptized on May 28th and we are so excited for him. In our lesson with him this week, he totally lectured me! So he found out on Mother's Day that I had hurt my knee pretty bad when I played volleyball back in high school. Howard lost his leg a while back because he didn't get a knee replacement soon enough and then he got bacteria in his leg that was doing some pretty bad damage, so they had to amputate. Well Howard is very kind and doesn't want this to happen to me, so he proceeded to give me a lesson on how to put on a prosthetic leg and all of the hard things that come with it. He told me he was doing it because he cares about me and doesn't want me to be in the same situation. It was really pretty humorous how he did it too! He took his pant leg and kept swatting it at me to emphasize his points! Howard is just so sweet!!
So to address the title of my email. We were visiting a family this week and they have this MASSIVE dog that thinks it's a lap dog. Whenever we go over there Tank, massive dog, jumps all over us and just slobbers all over us. I love dogs so I don't mind, but the family is always so embarrassed about him jumping over everyone! Well the father of the family has a super cool conversion story that includes President Hinckey, a former Prophet of the Church, sending him the entire collection of the Journals of Discourse from the Church. Basically they are books with a lot of really cool info and doctrine. So Tank was just being his usual self this week and the dad yells at Tank and says, "Tank if you don't knock it off right now I am going to smack you behind with a Journal of Discourse!" Tank immediately stopped and ran away. I was laughing so hard I couldn't breathe because it was just the funniest thing I had ever heard.
We also helped "Vanna White" some things in an auction this week which was really fun. We were doing it for a senior program here to raise money so that they can keep their center open. It's called the Senior Outreach Program, and basically all of the old people in Wheatland go there and hang out and talk and play card games. They take fun trips and stuff so we go volunteer and help them with their events and stuff. It's so fun!!
I love serving the Lord and getting to share this message with others! I've been thinking a lot about the sacrament this week and how special it is. Each week we get the opportunity to renew our covenants with our Heavenly Father. I was thinking about the words "to the souls of all who partake of it" that is in the sacrament prayer. The sacrament, just like the atonement, is for each and every one of us. Our choosing to or not to partake of the sacrament and the atonement effects us and our spiritual strength. The Savior suffered and died for each one of us, but that doesn't mean we have to use it. But by not using it, we suffer and separate ourselves from Him and our Heavenly Father. I am grateful for our Savior and what He did for us. This coming week I would challenge each of you to think of what the Savior has done for you and what it means to you that you can partake of the sacrament.
I love you all and miss you so much!!
