Happy New Year! Wow I can't believe it is 2016... It's so crazy! I hope everyone enjoyed their Christmas break and you all are doing well!
This week has been a slow one, due to the fact that everyone and their dog was out of town. However, that does not mean that it was without success and miracles! We had some really neat experiences this week as we have seen a great improvement in our investigators. The Becks are a part member family that we've been teaching for a little over a month now and it has been so awesome to teach them. All of the lessons we have with them are so spiritual and it's just very obvious that the time is right for Brother Beck to join the church and for Sister Beck to come back to church. They are so eager and love listening to the lessons. They have such a great desire to learn and follow the Savior.
We also saw Tara Raya this week and had a super great lesson on prayer and how Heavenly Father answers our prayers. She has come up with this super awesome invention for horse riding and she's been in the process of getting companies to take on her product and produce and sell it. The problem is that all of the companies want her to pay for the patent check which is really expensive and she can't just drop that kind of money right now. So she's been praying that there will be some way that she can 1.) know what company to go with (there are like 7 fighting over her) and 2.) find some way to pay for the patent check. All of this craziness has made it really hard for her to sleep and so she also wanted to pray to get actually get some sleep. Well we heard from her friend who is a member the next day that she had some really cool experiences from that prayer. The first one was that she fell right asleep after she prayed that night and actually got to sleep in! The second was that she woke up to an email from one of the companies telling her that they would be willing to pay for the patent check now and then have her pay it off little by little as they work through the process of developing her process. MIRACLES! Heavenly Father will always answer our prayers when we go to Him with a sincere heart and have faith that He will answer us.
This week we went on exchanges with our Sister Training Leaders and I got out of Cheyenne for 24 hours and spent that time in Wellington, Colorado and boy it was an adventure. I was with Sister Malekamu who is so awesome! We had a ton of fun together. We saw this crazy family and the husband talked non stop for almost two hours. I counted and aside from hello and goodbye, I said like 10 words. We didn't think we would ever get out of there alive! He just talked and talked about anything and everything under the sun. He told us about how he's kicked missionaries out of his house before (almost beat one up because he wouldn't leave), told us about all of the exotic birds he has and how they are smarter than every person who's walked in his house, except for him, and then he told us about his conversion story. He read the Book of Mormon 3 times before he agreed to take the lessons from the missionaries and he tried as hard as he could to prove it all wrong, and he couldn't. He knew it was true and he couldn't deny it. I love how the spirit testifies of truth and that if we truly want to know the gospel is true, he will allow us to know.
I have also determined that people in Colorado are very rude. We had a few minutes before dinner, so Sister Malekamu and I went tracting. The family we were eating with lives in a cabin in the mountains, so we went to the surrounding cabins. We knocked on this one guys door and he was super nice, but not interested. As we were leaving, Sister Malekamu drove through a drift and we got stuck. Like of course we are stuck in this guys driveway and how incredibly awkward would it be if we went back to his door and asked for help. So we were determined to get out of the snow without his help. So Sister Malekamu pushed while I reversed and tried to get us out. And I almost had it too! But then he came out to help us and got us more stuck in the drift. So his dad came out with a shovel and as he walked by us he goes, "This is why you don't come by uninvited" in this super mean rude voice. Sorry that we are just two girls who love the gospel and want to share it with you! Anyways, we got out and made it to dinner on time. But lesson learned there is that people in Colorado do not like Mormons.
I am so grateful that I have the opportunity to share the gospel with others. I know that this church is true.
